Best regardsWhen to use this template
- Bid submission for a competitive RFP with the standard sections (scope, timeline, pricing, references).
- Direct proposal to a private client outside formal RFP processes — more relationship-driven framing.
- Subcontractor proposal to a general contractor with the specific trade scope and pricing.
Customize for your workflow
- State assumptions explicitly. 'Pricing assumes X site conditions, Y permits already in place' protects you when reality differs.
- Include a clear scope-boundary section. 'Not included: Z' prevents scope creep arguments later.
Common questions
How detailed should construction proposals be?
Detailed enough that the client can evaluate against competitors. Materials, labor estimates, milestones. Vague proposals lose to specific ones.
Should I include payment schedule in the initial proposal?
Yes — at least the structure (deposit, milestone payments, final). Surprise payment schedules at contract time slow deals.
