[Additional information]When to use this template
- A/B testing CTA copy on landing pages or in-app prompts. Pre-written variants ready to drop into your testing tool.
- Email or in-product copy where the CTA is the primary action and small word changes have outsized impact.
- Funnel-stage CTAs where awareness, consideration, and decision phases need different action language.
Customize for your workflow
- Action-verb specific. 'Get my free trial' beats 'Sign up'. The verb should be active, the outcome should be the user's, not the company's.
- Test length variations. 'Buy now' vs 'Add to cart' vs 'Get yours today' all convert differently in different contexts.
Common questions
Should CTAs always be in first person?
Often outperforms second person ('I want to start' vs 'You can start'). Test for your audience — older audiences sometimes prefer 'Start now'.
How many CTAs per page is optimal?
One primary, one secondary. More than that dilutes — readers can't decide. Repeat the same CTA throughout long pages, don't vary it.
