[Name]When to use this template
- Subscriber hasn't opened in 60-90 days. Light 'we miss you' email with a single link to recent best content.
- Lapsed customer who churned 6+ months ago. Acknowledge the gap, share what's changed, give a specific reason to reconsider.
- Pre-suspension cleanup email asking 'do you still want to be on this list?' with one-click confirm or unsubscribe.
Customize for your workflow
- Be honest about the gap. 'It's been a while since you've opened anything from us' is more disarming than pretending nothing happened.
- Always pair re-engagement with a sunset: if they don't engage with the win-back, suppress them. List hygiene matters more than list size for deliverability.
Common questions
How many re-engagement attempts before sunsetting?
Two to three over a couple of weeks. Drag it out longer and you're hurting your sender reputation by emailing dead addresses.
Should I offer a discount in win-back emails?
For e-commerce, often yes. For SaaS, the discount usually isn't the issue — show them what's new and improved instead.
