Common questions

Are exit interviews even useful?

Yes if the data goes somewhere. If you collect feedback in 6 exits about the same manager and nothing changes, employees stop being honest. Loop the data into actual decisions.

Should the manager or HR send the offboarding email?

Manager for the personal acknowledgment. HR for the admin checklist. Keep them separate so neither feels transactional.
