Best regardsWhen to use this template
- Drafting a new product's TOS from scratch. Pull individual clauses (acceptable use, IP, termination) from the snippet pack rather than copy-pasting from a competitor.
- Updating existing TOS when you launch a new feature. Insert the relevant clause without reworking the whole document.
- Internal review prep. Pull the clause that matches what legal flagged so the comparison is easier.
Customize for your workflow
- Run any TOS draft past your actual lawyer before publishing. Snippets are starting points, not final language.
- Match jurisdiction in your governing law clause to where you actually do business. Defaulting to Delaware or California sometimes fits, sometimes doesn't.
Common questions
Can I copy TOS clauses from another company?
Technically yes — TOS aren't copyrightable in most cases — but bad fit is worse than slow drafting. Whatever you copy should match your actual product.
How often do I need to update TOS?
Whenever your data practices, billing, or features materially change. Annual reviews are good practice even if no big changes — laws shift faster than products.
