Follow-Up Sequences
Strategic follow-up emails to re-engage prospects who have not responded.
First Follow-Up (3 days)
Hi {{cursor}},
Just wanted to bump this to the top of your inbox. I know things get busy, so I wanted to make it easy - here is a quick summary of why I reached out:
- We help [type of company] with [value prop]
- Clients typically see [result] within [timeframe]
- Takes just 15 minutes to see if there is a fit
Would any day this week work for a quick call?
BestSecond Follow-Up (7 days)
Hi {{cursor}},
I wanted to follow up one more time. I completely understand if this is not a priority right now.
That said, I recently helped [similar company] solve [specific problem] and thought the approach might be relevant for your team.
If you are interested, I am happy to send over a brief case study - no call needed.
Best regardsThird Follow-Up - Breakup
Hi {{cursor}},
I have reached out a few times and have not heard back, so I will assume the timing is not right. Totally understand.
If [pain point] becomes a priority down the road, feel free to reach out. I am always happy to help.
Wishing you and the team at [Company] all the best.

The key takeaway is [brief insight]. It aligns closely with what we have been seeing in the market.
Would love to discuss how this applies to your team if you have a few minutes.
BestSocial Proof Follow-Up
Hi {{cursor}},
Since I last reached out, we just wrapped up a project with [notable client] where we helped them [achievement]. They are now seeing [metric].
I think there is a real opportunity to do something similar at [Company]. Would you be open to a quick conversation?
Best regardsNew Angle Follow-Up
Hi {{cursor}},
I wanted to approach this from a different angle. Instead of a call, would it be helpful if I sent you a personalized 2-minute video walkthrough showing exactly how [solution] could work for [Company]?
No commitment - just wanted to make it as easy as possible for you to evaluate.
Let me know.
BestReferral Request Follow-Up
Hi {{cursor}},
I have been trying to connect about [topic] but I may not be reaching the right person. Would you be able to point me to the person on your team who handles [area]?
I would really appreciate the introduction.
Thank you,Calendar Link Follow-Up
Hi {{cursor}},
I know scheduling can be a hassle, so I wanted to make it easy. Here is a link to grab a time that works for you: [Calendar Link]
The conversation will be brief - just 15 minutes to see if we can help with [pain point].
Looking forward to connecting.
BestWhen to use this template
- Day 3 nudge after a cold open. Two-sentence reply to your own thread, references the original ask, gives them an out.
- Day 10 break-up email when they've ignored 2-3 attempts. 'Closing the loop' note that often shakes loose a reply.
- After a meeting that didn't end with a clear next step. Recap what was discussed, propose the specific next action with a date.
Customize for your workflow
- Reply to your own previous email so the thread stays together. Threading beats new subject lines for getting opened.
- Vary your sequence opens. 'Just bumping this' three times in a row reads as desperate. Mix in 'last try' and value-add follow-ups.
Common questions
How many follow-ups before I should stop?
Three to four typically. After the break-up email, stop unless something specific changes (their company in the news, a new product on your end).
Should I use a different channel for follow-ups?
Sometimes. If email gets ignored, LinkedIn DM works for B2B sales. Phone is rarely worth it cold but can work after light email engagement.
