Cursor MCP

Cursor MCP for your notes. One click to connect.

Let Cursor read your design notes, past decisions and snippets while it works, and save its plans to your vault instead of the repo. Click Connect in TypeFire and Cursor picks it up. No API key, and the connection stays on your Mac.

How do I add an MCP server for my notes to Cursor?

Install TypeFire, open Settings, AI apps (MCP), and click Connect beside Cursor. Cursor picks it up on its own, with no restart, and its agent can then search, read and save your notes and snippets.

There's no JSON to paste and no server to run. If you ever move TypeFire to another folder, the row says so and an Update button fixes it.

No config file

Connect adds TypeFire to Cursor's settings for you, and backs the file up first.

No API key

No key to copy and no extra account. Connecting is the permission.

TypeFire starts itself

If it's quit when the AI asks, it starts in the menu bar on its own.

How to add TypeFire to Cursor as an MCP server

About a minute, the first time.

  1. 01

Install TypeFire and add a vault

A folder of Markdown notes, or the Obsidian vault you already keep.

  2. 02

    Click Connect beside Cursor

Settings, AI apps (MCP). TypeFire adds one entry to Cursor's MCP settings and backs the file up first.

  3. 03

    Ask in Cursor's agent

No restart needed. Cursor may ask you to approve a tool the first time; that prompt is Cursor's.

  4. 04

    Optional: add the notebook line

Paste TypeFire's ready line into your Cursor rules so plans land in your vault.

What to ask

What to ask Cursor, once it can reach your notes.

The context you never put in the repo: why a decision was made, what you tried last time, what the client asked for.

  • "What did we decide about the database last week?"

Cursor searches your vault and quotes the decision note.

  • "Save this plan to my Work vault"

The plan becomes a note you can find next month, not a file in the branch.

  • "Read my API style notes before you start"

One section of a long note, so the context stays small.

  • "What's in my ;pr snippet?"

Snippets are readable too, and with Pro Cursor can create new ones.

What it can reach

Notes, snippets, and clipboard history if you allow it.

Searching and reading are free. Creating, editing, moving and deleting need Pro or the trial.

  • Notes, in every vault

Search with your operators or by meaning (Weave, Apple silicon), read the note you have open or any note, links and backlinks; with Pro, create, make exact edits, rename, move, add to today's note and delete to the Trash.

  • Snippets

Search and read; with Pro, create or edit any type, Selection Prompts and chains included.

  • Clipboard history

Off at first. Turn it on and the AI can search it, screenshots included, and put a clip back.

  • Your edit wins

If a note changed since the AI read it, the edit is refused. Deletes go to the Trash.

Cursor MCP questions

Still not answered?

No. Cursor picks up the change on its own. Only Claude and Codex need to be reopened once.

No. Connect adds a single entry called typefire to Cursor's settings file and backs the file up next to it first.

Nothing else in the file changes, and Disconnect takes the entry out again.

Yes. Settings, AI apps (MCP), has a ready line per vault under Make TypeFire your agent's notebook.

Paste it into your Cursor rules and the agent saves plans and decisions as notes, and looks there before starting new work. A project's own files, like its README, stay in the project.

Searching and reading are free. Creating, editing, moving and deleting from Cursor need TypeFire Pro, $18 once, or the free trial.

No. If the note changed since Cursor read it, the edit is refused and Cursor has to read it again.
