Your vault, as it is
Pick the vault folder in Chrome's dialog. Nothing is imported, copied or converted.
Links, backlinks, a graph
[[Wikilinks]] resolve, backlinks list, and the graph draws without any model or download.
Any machine with Chrome
A Chromebook, a locked-down office laptop, a Linux box. No installer, no admin rights.
The same folder, one more editor.
Chrome's folder dialog opens the vault; choose Allow on every visit and it stays open. Notes render as you type, with wikilinks that resolve to your notes, backlinks at the foot of each one, tables edited in place, callouts, images, tags and an outline. Your .obsidian folder, plugins and themes are not touched; they keep working in Obsidian.
Wikilinks and backlinks
Type [[ and pick a note. Every note lists what links to it, the way your vault already does.
Tables, callouts, code
Edited in place, rendered as you type, saved as the Markdown Obsidian expects.
Notes in tabs
Keep several notes open, pin the tab list as a sidebar, drag tabs into any order.
Nothing leaves the folder
The extension reads and writes the folder you picked and sends nothing anywhere.
Capture into the vault from anywhere on the web.
Quick capture puts a thought into the vault without leaving the page you are on. Daily notes open today's note in one keystroke. The Spotlight searches your notes, snippets and clips from one box on any site, and Enter puts a note's text where you were typing. A {{note:Title}} token inside a snippet expands to the note's current text, always up to date.
Daily notes
One shortcut opens today's note in the vault's daily folder.
The Spotlight
One shortcut over any page searches the vault. Search operators in every box.
A note inside a snippet
{{note:Standup}} expands to the note's current text.
{{note:Standup}}Version history
Every save keeps a snapshot you can roll back to. Pro.
On a Mac, the same vault opens natively.
The Mac app opens the same folder with Quick Look previews in Finder, a global hotkey that opens the vault over any app, Weave for connections across notes, and sync across Macs. One sign-in, one Pro, and the browser side for every machine that is not a Mac.
Mac app plus extension
Same account, same notes folder, two editors on it.
Quick Look in Finder
Press Space on any .md file and it renders, on the Mac.

Questions
Obsidian, the browser, and where the files live.
Still not answered?
Yes. TypeFire for Chrome opens any folder of Markdown files, an Obsidian vault included, through Chrome's own folder dialog, and edits the notes in place: wikilinks, backlinks, a graph, tabs, daily notes, tags, tables, callouts and images.
The files stay plain Markdown on your disk, so Obsidian reads every change the moment you open it there.
No. Obsidian has no web version, and TypeFire is not made by Obsidian.
It is a separate editor that works on the same kind of vault, a folder of Markdown files, from inside Chrome, Edge or Brave. Your notes never move; TypeFire is one more program that can open them.
Yes. The extension runs in Chrome 114 or newer, Edge or Brave, on ChromeOS, Windows, Linux and macOS.
It needs no installer and no admin rights, which is the point: a vault on a Chromebook, a locked-down office machine, or a Linux box with no Obsidian build.
They stay in your vault's .obsidian folder, untouched, and keep working in Obsidian.
TypeFire reads the Markdown files, not the plugin settings, so the vault opens the same in both.
Nowhere. The extension reads and writes the folder you picked, through the browser's folder permission, and sends nothing anywhere.
Choose Allow on every visit in the dialog and the folder stays open between sessions. There is no account that holds your notes.
Notes are free in full: the editor, several vaults, the graph, daily notes and quick capture.
Pro is one $18 purchase for the Mac app and the extension together, and in the browser it adds note version history, Selection Prompts, Prompt Chains and the Mac's synced clips.
