Chrome extension docs Notes

Notes at a glance

Notes is the third tab, beside Snippets and Clips. Press 3.

A note is a plain markdown file in a folder you choose. There is no database and no proprietary format: open the same folder in any Markdown app or a text editor and it looks exactly the same. Move a file in your file manager and TypeFire picks it up on the next scan.

Notes are free, with no cap and no counter.

Notes are not snippets

The two live in separate folders, on purpose. Snippet frontmatter carries a version history, an abbreviation and a content type, none of which belong in a notes folder you also open in another app.

The practical difference: a snippet expands when you type its abbreviation. A note does not. Notes are for writing; snippets are for typing less.
