If your notes live somewhere else, bring them in. In Notes, the menu beside New has Import notes. Three sources: a file, a folder, or Apple Notes. Markdown, plain text, R T F and Word all convert. Pick a folder and its subfolders become collections. Nothing is written yet. The scan sorts what it found: new notes, ticked and ready; notes that changed since you last imported them; and notes you already have, left alone. Nothing you have is ever overwritten unless you tick it. Import, and they are in the vault, folders and all. Run it again next month and only the new ones are ticked. Snippets come in the same way. In Snippets, the New menu imports from TextExpander, from aText, or from a template package. The preview lists every snippet in the export with its abbreviation, so you can see what is coming before it does. Choose the collection it lands in. Import, and they are ready to expand, with their abbreviations kept. What transfers: the text, the abbreviation, the title, and plain fill-in fields. What does not: scripts and macros from other apps, which have no equivalent here, and rich formatting beyond bold, italic and links.
