Clips keeps a history of everything you copy. It is off until you say so. Settings, then Clips, then the switch. Storage decides how long the history is kept: by count, by age, or by size. Pinned clips are never removed, whichever you pick. Never capture from is for apps whose copies should be skipped entirely. Password managers are always on this list; add anything else you would rather not keep. And the Privacy card: capture images keeps screenshots and pictures as well as text. A file copied in Finder stays a file, and formatted text keeps its formatting when you paste it back. Now let it work. A chart on a dashboard, worth keeping. Screenshot it the way you always do. A sign-in code arrives in a message, and gets copied. Both are in Clips, newest first, and nothing was saved by hand. Press 2, or click the tab. Where the code is needed, Command Control 2 brings the list up over the page. Click the code, and it is pasted where the cursor was. You never went back to the message. A document, and the chart belongs in it. Same shortcut, and this time type what the chart said. Those words exist only as pixels in the picture. Clips read them when the screenshot landed, so the search finds it. And the picture itself lands in the document.
