Settings is the gear in the bottom bar. Thirteen tabs, in four groups: the app, the three worlds, and your account. Here is what each one is for, card by card. General. Menu bar and dock: whether the icon sits in the menu bar and what a click on it opens, whether the dock icon shows, and launch at startup. System: the Accessibility permission expansion needs, and making TypeFire the Mac's editor for markdown. Appearance. Theme: light, dark or system, and the warm and cool surfaces. Typography: the interface size, and the fonts for the interface and the editor. Shortcuts. Inside TypeFire: the keys that work while the app is in front. Anywhere on your Mac: the global ones, the Spotlight windows, and every one is recordable. Click, press the keys, done. And the notes shortcuts: quick capture, the daily note, a new markdown file. AI is the provider for Selection Prompts and Chains, covered in Setting up AI. iCloud is sync, with its own video. Weave is search by meaning, also its own. Snippets. Vault: the folder your snippets live in, and the type icons in the list. Spotlight: what picking a snippet in the Spotlight window does, paste its text or its path. Trigger: whether abbreviations expand at all, and how: on a delimiter like space, tab or return, or the instant the last letter lands. Behavior: restoring the clipboard afterwards, a sound, instant expansion, the extra backspace for web editors, and the default case sensitivity. Scope: Expand in every app, or only the ones you list. Clips. The switch that turns clipboard history on. Spotlight: what a click on a clip does in the window. Privacy: detecting sensitive content and how fast it expires, capturing images, and saving screenshots from a watched folder. Never capture from: the apps whose copies are skipped, with password managers always blocked. Search inside images: the text read out of screenshots, so a search finds them. Storage: how long history is kept, by count, by age, or by size. Notes. Vault: the folder, what is in it, and the type icons. Writing: expanding snippets while you write, line numbers, the outline, live preview. Daily notes: the folder and the date format, detected from your vault when you set it up. Plan is your tier, buying, restoring and your Macs. Invite friends is Pro for free. Advanced has the resets, each one asking first. And Feedback goes straight to us.
