iCloud Sync

All of it lives in Settings → iCloud, and each world has its own switch. Sync is two-way: turn a switch on for the same iCloud account on two Macs and they keep each other up to date. Everything goes through your own iCloud Drive, so nothing reaches a TypeFire server.

Pro sync covers 3 Macs, the same as the rest of Pro. Snippet sync is free and is not counted.

• The newest edit wins. If you change the same snippet on both Macs before they sync, the more recently saved version replaces the other. There is no merge and no conflict copy, so avoid editing one snippet in two places at once.
• Deleting works in both directions. Delete a snippet on one Mac and it goes on the other. TypeFire remembers what it last synced, which is how it tells "you deleted this" apart from "this has not arrived yet" and stops deleted snippets reappearing.
• Nested collections are flattened while sync is active.
• Sync runs on every change, plus a periodic pass in the background. Sync now in Settings → iCloud runs one immediately and shows when the last one finished. Arrival is not instant: iCloud decides when files actually move between Macs.
• Settings → Advanced → Clear iCloud Vault removes the synced copy and keeps your local one.
• Turning a switch off never deletes anything, on either Mac. The same is true if a Mac loses its Pro license: syncing stops, nothing is removed.

Syncing clips

Settings → iCloud → Clipboard history is a separate switch, off by default. It is separate on purpose: snippets are things you wrote, clips are captured automatically, so carrying them off the machine is a bigger decision. Anything the detector marks as a password or secret never syncs, on any tier and in any mode.

Clips are matched by content, so the same thing copied on both Macs stays one clip. Your retention setting still applies on each machine independently, so on the free tier each Mac keeps its own most recent 10.
