Connecting an AI app
Open Settings → AI apps (MCP). Under Connect your AI apps you'll see the ones installed on this Mac: Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, LM Studio, Codex and Windsurf. Click Connect beside one.
- Connect adds a single entry called
typefireto that app's settings file and backs the file up first, next to the original. Nothing else in the file changes. - Claude and Codex read their settings when they start, so quit and reopen them once. The others pick it up on their own.
- Disconnect takes the entry out again.
- If you move TypeFire to another folder, the row says it points to another copy. Click Update.
Any other app that supports MCP can connect too. Add a stdio server with this command (the card at the bottom of the same section has a copy button):
{
"mcpServers": {
"typefire": {
"command": "/Applications/TypeFire.app/Contents/MacOS/typefire-mcp",
"args": []
}
}
}
Onboarding offers the same Connect button on its last screen.
